Carbon Monoxide (September 2009)

Publicity Line

The number of deaths from CO poisoning nationally is relatively low, however CFOA is committed to making people safer in their home wherever the skills, knowledge and experience of the Fire & Rescue Service can add value. Indeed, some Fire & Rescue Services provide CO alarms as well as smoke detectors during home fire safety checks.

Whilst evidence has shown that the target population of those likely to suffer the harmful effects of CO poisoning does not map exactly with those likely to suffer the effects of fire, CFOA supports Fire & Rescue Services who wish to install these as part of a total home safety solution.
