CFOA will support the Fire and Rescue Service to play a full part in the planning and delivery of a safe Olympic Games and Paralympics in 2012 and to ensure that the maximum legacy from the games is achieved to benefit the people of the United Kingdom in future years.

CFOA will champion the case for FRS involvement in all aspects of planning and preparation for the games and will support the FRS to achieve adequate funding from central government to enable FRS’s to play a full and active part in the planning and delivery of the games.

CFOA will support the FRS to develop and enhance partnerships with local administrations and communities to increase active community participation both during and after the Games.

CFOA will support FRS involvement in pre-planning to minimise the impact of any emergency occurring during the period of the games on the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympics.

CFOA will support the development of a co-ordinated UKFRS approach to operational planning for the Olympic Games and the delivery of a co-ordinated national response.

CFOA supports FRS involvement to provide a safe physical environment at all games venues through the application of regulatory and engineered fire safety solutions.

CFOA considers it important that the FRS promotes as a legacy the installation of low cost sprinklers or other suppression systems in the athlete’s accommodation where this will be used for housing following the Games.
